I-ELLA.COM - Your fashion soulmate awaits...

This morning we can bet that you stared into your more than packed closet full of awesome clothes and proclaimed that you had absolutely nothing to wear, despite the totally fabulous clothes hanging in your closet. Trust us, we know the feeling. The grass is always greener on the other side and as I-ELLA says "One fashionista's trash is another fashionista's treasure." So consider this your personal invitation to a whole new wardrobe, whether you're looking to buy, borrow, swap, sell or lend. And without any extra effort...you'll be donating, too!

I-ELLA.com is the product of Ella Gorgla's compassion. Her mission to have companies donate 10% of revenue to charitable organizations has begun, one purchase at a time. I-ELLA covers all grounds, satisfying the cost-conscious consumer with a passion for fashion and a desire to donate!

As self proclaimed shopaholics at Clos-ette, but ones who know how to organize and edit our closets, we are SO excited to tell you about I-ELLA.com, the latest and greatest online marketplace. Think gilt meets ebay.
Here's how it works:

To buy: The only requirements are to accept your invitation to the site and pay through Paypal and be ready to shop for a cause!

To borrow: Don't want to be seen wearing something your friend wore last week, but need something you haven't worn before and will never wear again? Borrow a fabulous find from one of I-ELLA's sellers. Need it for a day, a week, a month? You can borrow it for a fraction of the retail price.
Swap: My personal favorite. You get compliments on your go-to black cashmere sweater every time you wear it, but to you, its novelty has worn off. Well, the same is true for your fashion counterpart, whoever and wherever she may be. So swap that familiar item for a new staple that you'll enjoy even more! $5 fees for a swap are given to I-ELLA, your matchmaker, and 10% of that fee is donated to a chairty of your choosing.

Sell/Lend: You can list your entire wardrobe for no cost on I-ELLA.com. You determine the price as long as you can provide I-ELLA with the color, composition, style and cut, where it was made, approximately how old it is for vintage items, cleaning instructions, sizing, etc. While I-ELLA suggests at least a 25% discount over retail price, you ultimately decide. 90%, yes we said 90%, of the buy price is all yours. I-ELLA keeps a 10% transaction fee for all products sold directly by the seller and 10% of this is donated to one of three charities selected by the buyer.

Donate: Donating does not require anything extra on your part. A percentage of every transaction goes to a charity of your choosing. I-ELLA chooses three different charity partners each month and the buyers direct their donations to any of these organizations. 10% of every transaction fee goes to charity whether you're buying, swapping, or borrowing. Additionally, 75% of the proceeds of celebrity auctions go to the celebrity's chosen social venture.

Celebrity Auctions: The site kicked off their launch with celebrity auctions from MTV's resident reality star turned designer Whitney Port and supermodel Veronica Webb. Bidding works the same on I-ELLA as it does on other online auction sites. 75% of the sale price will be directed to the celebrity's charity of choice.

Starting Wednesday, items from Clos-ette's own Melanie Charlton Fascitelli's closet will be for sale with 20% of proceeds going to the Endometriosis Foundation of America. As a stylist, shopaholic, and go-to expert of editing and organizing, you can be sure that Melanie's sale consists of some seriously coveted couture. Mark your calendars..

Your fashion soulmate may be on the other side of the country and you may have never had a chance to swap clothing with her if it weren't for I-ELLA. I-ELLA makes it easy for you to share your closet with other fashion savvy people around the country. Consider this your personal invitation to an exclusive, one-of-a-kind new wardrobe. Sign up here now and take advantage of the exclusive referral code for Clos-ette Living subscribers. Enter CLOSETTE (in all caps) when signing up to bypass the process of requesting a membership!

Your fashion counterpart, whoever and wherever she may be, is waiting to shop your closet...

XOXO,
Clos-ette

It's time...to pile on the accessories!

Summer may be over, but a new season calls for new accessories! It’s time to pile on the layers for fall, and Clos-ette has rounded up our favorite brands to accessorize your winter wardrobe. Any accessory can deliver a modern dose of glamour to any outfit, casual or fancy. So for an instant uplift, add a Roarke necklace, TRE ring or Chan Luu earrings to transform your outfit from Plain Jane to City Chic.

Our expert stylists at Clos-ette swear by outfitting a majority of our wardrobes with essential basics and adding interchangeable accessories to spice up your clothes.

Last year, we wrote a blog about the then fairly new brand Roarke. And it comes as no surprise that they’re now on Shopbop (which we all know is a necessary bookmark for any shopaholic’s browser). Not to worry, Roarke is still handmade to order, keeping their customers connected to the brand. What’s even better is that their price point is still the same – starting at $60 for a Roarke bracelet. Handmade to order jewelry for $60 dollars is unheard of!

We are very happy to also announce that Roarke has expanded their line, bringing you new and totally chic accessories. Roarke now offers more necklaces, headpieces and bracelets as well as garters, bowties and neckties!

And stay tuned because you will soon be able to order your own Roarke handbag! Some of our favorites from the latest at Roarke include their tribal inspired prints, leopard prints, and so many more. Check out more pics below of some of our favorite new Roarke products! To purchase visit www.roarkenyc.com or www.shopbop.com
Another way to add a little something to your outfit is to accessorize with TRE. The idea behind TRE was inspired by working mothers on the go. Founders, Marisa Brown and Ulrica Lanaro, came together with a common passion for unique and bold fashion. TRE values the importance of easy, chic and affordable design. The rings go for anywhere between $50 and $85. Add these statement pieces to your basics and it will totally transform your look without costing a fortune!Even better is that TRE is behind the One TRE / One Tree charity donating a percentage of sales to something that’s around you everyday – the environment. Each time you buy a TRE accessory, a tree is planted on your behalf. Additionally, the products are made from glass which is used for its accessibility, practicality and striking aesthetic. TRE is designed for all women – any age. In fact, each ring is named after women in the founders’ families ranging from grandmothers to daughters. The Anita is named after Ulrica’s mother, the biggest and boldest of all. The Gioia was named after Marisa’s daughter because it is patterned and playful. There is a style and color for women of ever generation. While still working with glass, the fashionistas over at TRE plan to expand with adding chains to their collection as well as now working with lucite and making bangles. Their motto is to stick to fun, bold and affordable fashion that really makes a statement and we can’t wait to see what they have next! Stay in the loop by visiting http://www.blogger.com/www.TRE-nyc.com

Lastly, another option for affordable accessories is Chan Luu. The accessory line started in 1996 and has since been featured in Vogue, Elle, Glamour, and many more. Chan Luu is described as, “semi-precious stones, beads, and colored fresh water pearls, Chan's trademark is her artistic skill in combining unusual forms with beautiful colors to create truly striking pieces which set the trend in fashion jewelry.” Each piece is one of a kind and many are handmade in the USA.

Chan Luu is referred to as the “queen of layering”. From jewelry to clothing, Chan Luu is a one-stop shop. Her versatile leather-wrap bracelets double as chokers while her long, colorful necklaces layered with chunky, bold beads complete any outfit. Visit http://www.blogger.com/www.chanluu.comfor more info.

Check out Clos-ette’s favorite accessory lines before you dive into fall and be prepared to look effortlessly chic through the winter!

XOXO,
Clos-ette

Shop Distress-Free with Decades Denim

Bell-Bottoms. Boyfriend. Skinny. White. Black. Blue. Dark wash. Light wash. Acid wash. Distressed. Low cut. Hip hugging.Trends for your cut and wash may come and go but we all know that affordable jeans never go out of style. As designer denim prices skyrocket, retailing anywhere from $150 to $5,000 (Yes, I am referring to the glamorous, yet intangible, Balmain black vintage pants with allover crystal embroidery), an affordable, yet totally chic denim line is a dream come true.

Financial analyst, Angelique Soave, grew up splitting her time between New York and Detroit, discovering the need for transitional clothes. After a lifetime of traveling and a passion for fashion, Soave teamed up with her friend, and now business partner, Cameron Silver to create the missing pieces in their wardrobes. They added a touch of glamour and a hint of sophistication and united to launch a premium denim line named after Silver’s Melrose Avenue boutique, Decades. Denim may seem like an unexpected venture for Silver, having stocked his vintage boutique with gowns and tuxedos and other high-end used apparel, but he had been looking to serve as a creative director for the right, new challenge. And with Soave as his executive VP and chief merchandising officer, whom he describes as the best-dressed woman he knows, the denim line and its inevitable expansion is sure to be an enormous success.

Since its opening in 1997, Decades has been successfully selling upscale used fashions dating from the 1930s through the 1990s. Sister store, DecadesTwo opened in 2007, which sells clothing dating from the 1990s to present day. The Decades franchise is home to brands such as Jean Dessès, Ossie Clark, Cardinalli and more.

So…why denim? Soave describes denim as the foundation of a modern women’s wardrobe. It’s what women wear most often and feel most comfortable in. With its timeless style, Decades Denim will fit the needs of every modern, fashion loving female. The premiere Holiday 2010 women’s capsule collection is thematic, focused, and sexy. Debuting in October, Decades Denim will be available in time for the holidays, providing a refined aesthetic at price value, with styles ranging from $99, $109, and $129. The line includes 11 different styles titled the Denim Trousseau, all named after iconic 20th century women.

Each style is made to have a useful place in a chic woman’s wardrobe – from a cropped cigarette shape (The Marilyn), to the extremely flattering curved- seam legging (The Martha), to a tuxedo jean with satin trim pockets (The Marlene), as well as classic styles like The Angie, a boot cut, and an all-American high waist straight leg called The Cheryl. Decades Denim created jeans that can go easily from day to night and adhere to very true, classic colors: Deep blue, midnight black, and clean white. With luxury always in mind, the line focuses on even the smallest attention to detail – from a single silver “D” ring that hangs from the back of one belt loop to zippers and tack buttons that are created from mixed metals, all adding to the brand’s unique quality.

If you’re already totally addicted to this line (like we at Clos-ette are), have no fear. Starting in the Spring of 2011, they will be expanding the line to cater to the Decades man. Silver elaborates, “The idea is to turn this into a lifestyle collection that is denim driven.” Also available this upcoming Spring are washed silks, knits, jersey and cotton. They have also expanded the collection to include dresses, blazers, skirts and shorts. Ultimately Decades Denim will evolve into your go-to lifestyle brand, for every aspect of your wardrobe.
So stay tuned for the most up-to-date news and keep checking up on the
Decades Denim website!

XOXO,
Clos-ette

Every Woman's New Uniform - The Veronica Beard Collection

If you have play-dates to drive to and dance recitals to attend, you might also know that keeping up with the ever-changing fashion trends, as a busy mom, is close to impossible. But thanks to this sister-in-law duo, moms can now look totally chic behind their strollers. Veronica Swanson Beard and Veronica Miele Beard (Yes, they have the same name) have teamed up to create a classic, iconic line of clothing – The Veronica Beard Collection. Swanson Beard, who worked in high-end fashion as well as a retail buyer, and Miele Beard, a former hedge fund manager, combined their business backgrounds with their mother’s intuition to create the ultimate, ideal clothing line for a busy, yet fashionable woman.

Their fall collection includes one single piece – The Jacket, retailing for $805 to $1,030. Leave it to this inventive family of entrepreneurs, whose relatives include photographer James Beard and vineyard owner Clarke Beard, to transform every woman’s wardrobe with just one article of clothing. The Jacket is the type of piece you can never have enough of – the type that every woman wants in every color and material. It’s as versatile as any other jacket, coming in fabrics like tweeds, bouclés, herringbones and wool with details such as piping, elbow patches and interchangeable zip-up dickeys, which give the illusion of an additional layer.

The dickeys allow every woman to personalize her outfit, while adding to the long list of appropriate venues to wear your new jacket to! The Upstate dickey includes a cream wool fisherman’s sweater, the Uptown will keep you warm in the summer with the black cashmere sweater, the Downtown is the French terry hoodie sweatshirt and the Beach dickey which boasts a nautical-stripe merino sweater. All you do is unzip one and swap it out for another!

Their upcoming spring collection will include what they refer to as “classic, iconic pieces in a bag.” The collection will include pieces that you could essentially toss into your suitcase, drive to your summer home and be appropriately dressed for every event without planning a single outfit! The bag includes two types of clothing – done up and undone - done up being the dressier, more nighttime clothing items as opposed to the undone which outfits you for your weekends of lounging and socializing with friends at the resort.

The two new fashion moguls were inspired by other designers whose resumes also list “mother” as their primary occupation- Stella McCartney, Donna Karan, Phoebe Philo as well as classic and timeless designers such as Ralph Lauren and Oscar de la Renta. The Veronica Beard Collection is available in Kirna Zabête and Edit in New York, Richards in Greenwich, Conn., Dressed in Santa Barbara, Roan in Richmond, Va., and Wilkes Bashford in San Francisco.

Trust your favorite shopaholics at Clos-ette, the jackets are super chic and versatile and they are going fast, so order one ASAP!

You can read more about the upcoming collections on their website, VeronicaBeard.com!

Clos-ette's Solution To The Everlasting Wallpaper vs. Paint Debate!

As every home owner knows, the debate over wallpaper vs. paint is ongoing. And at some point you, too, will be faced with the eternal question of “Which is better..wallpaper or paint?” While these two finishes come in and out of style, year after year, Clos-ette has found a timeless solution...

...Carolina von Humbolt. She is a trompe l’oeil painter, who can turn your bare walls into masterpieces. Although originally an aspiring model, Carolina has been painting since she was a little girl. She then went on to work as a textile designer for D. Porthault in Paris and for Eliakim, a designer with whom she was involved in decorationg, display windows, product design and exhibition concepts.

Since moving to New York City, she has become one of the most sought after trompe l’oeil artists. She specializes in trompe l’oeil as well as contemporary and traditional faux finishes. You can find her work in homes across the country as well as hotels, such as the Four Seasons. She is based in New York, but travels all over the world to bring her unique talent into clients’ homes. No project is too large or too small for her, as she has done every size project from backsplashes and small walls to entire resorts. Whether the job is a specific request by the client or an original idea of her own, Carolina has worked with many successful architects and celebrity clientele to produce beautiful artwork. Her work is constantly exciting as she describes every project, “a new story, a new adventure, a different place, light and atmosphere.”

You can check out the rest of her portfolio at her website www.carolinavonhumboldt.com. To get in contact, email Carolina at carolinahumboldt@gmail.com.
